Ingressio, a global organization

Ingressio, one of the few Latin biometrics software providers, reached its 10th anniversary in 2010. This would be anything special if it wasn't by the fact that is also one of the very few Latin American companies that has a branch in the Silicon Valley to attend the US domestic markets, something that the firm has been doing successfully since the branch opened 4 years ago.

According to Humberto López Gallegos, CEO of Ingressio. The decision to open and keep a branch in the US is supported by the fact that the company wanted and needed to grow beyond the Latin American market. "Four years ago we realized that it was necessary to explore the US market, which is 20 times bigger than the Latin American territory; We saw ourselves leaning towards being a global organization, not only a Latin company".

To think of the company as a global actor gave them the motivation to start the adventure, but first it was necessary to re-learn and to modify distinct aspects of the strategy. "We had to change some things from the roots so we could understand the market and draw the road map of the growth that we wanted for Ingressio", López said.

The US branch of the company is located in San Jose, CA the heart of the Silicon Valley and hometown of some of the most influential technology companies in the world. To open this office, Ingressio took part in a entrepreneurial contest financed by both, American and Mexican governments. The founders were among the winners and because of this they received the help and the resources to establish the company in North America, something that López Gallegos recognizes as fundamental for the company's growth and development.

Ingressio: stories of success and opportunities

Ingressio looks like a very well though company. When Signalis asked López Gallegos to name some of the most important accomplishments of Ingressio's last few years, he mentioned what would be considered as the Nirvana by any technological company: to have developed an innovation model that allows the generation of products and improvements for its different clients and industries; to have constructed a solid distribution chain and to have Ingressio integrated with the most important biometrics world vendors. The sum of these aspects have led the company to constantly grow in a market that is offering a lot of opportunities.

Among these business opportunities Latin America should be included, a region that is distinguished by its capability to adequate to technology. Signalis asked Humberto about this region and if it was adopting biometrics as a method to control personnel inside job sites or users in a hospital, among other usages. López said that  biometrics Latin America have shown an improvement explained basically by the fact that a few years ago there were just a handful or vendors so the integrator didn't need to make any choice. "Today, the integrator has to be more involved to choose the best option in biometrics devices according to its client needs", Humberto said.

Promoting B2B companies

At the end of the interview, it was important to know what kind of marketing strategies is Ingressio implementing to promote and position the company among its clients and prospects. It seems that the best marketing strategy is to have a very good product, according to what López Gallego stated. "Our overall and technological innovation has helped us to stand out within our competitors in areas such as communication, promotion and everything that related to business intelligence; talking about new products, understanding the diversity of our clients, working and developing strategies with distribution channels have been our key actions".

One last thing that Humberto mentioned that could be the most important is that companies must identify what are those areas where you cannot compete with big firms (such as massive promotions plans). "Sometimes being a small company can be an advantage, because you're more flexible and quick to make decisions. If we can use this to our benefit, we will grow", López concluded.
